Care

Japan has more elderly people than almost any country in the world, and its care homes cannot find enough staff. This programme prepares you to care for elderly people in Japan — the skills, the safety, and the respectful Japanese that care work depends on.

Who this is for

For people who want to look after others.

Age 18 or over. No educational requirement.

Patience, gentleness and a genuine wish to care for people. We look for these at assessment.

Ready to study Japanese every day. In care, language matters even more than in other work — you are talking with the people you look after all day long.

What you learn

Care, safety and Japanese — together.

01

Care Japanese

Speaking with residents, polite and respectful Japanese (keigo), writing care records, the shift handover, and speaking with families.

02

Daily assistance

Helping residents move, bathe, eat and use the toilet — to Japanese care practice, with dignity at the centre.

03

Safety and hygiene

Infection control, safe moving and back-injury prevention, and reporting incidents and near-misses.

04

Working in a Japanese care home

How the day runs, how the team works together, and what residents and colleagues expect of you.

05

Test preparation

The care skills test, which can be taken in Bengali, and the care Japanese test. We teach to the current pass standard.

06

A digital record

Video of your practical work, your assessments, and how you work with people — so an employer can see who you are before they meet you.

Training partner

Developed with a UK care provider.

STATIM HEALTHCARE LTD
UK company number 08171985 · A care home operator registered in the United Kingdom

Our care training is developed with STATIM HEALTHCARE LTD, which runs care homes in the United Kingdom. Care standards, the protection of vulnerable residents, and the daily work of a care home are much the same whether the home is in Luton or Nagano — and that practical experience shapes what we teach.

A training partnership is not an offer of employment. BTI does not guarantee a job, an employer or a visa.

The care Japanese test became harder to pass on 1 April 2026. We teach to the new standard from the first week.

After your training

What the care route means — and where it can lead.

Specified Skilled Worker (i) allows you to work in Japan for up to five years in total. Japanese law requires your employer to pay you at least what a Japanese worker doing the same job is paid.

Care is not part of Specified Skilled Worker (ii). The long-term route in care is Japan's national Certified Care Worker examination (介護福祉士), which leads to a residence status that can be renewed and allows your family to join you. We train with that examination in mind from the start.

BTI does not recruit, place or arrange visas, and does not guarantee a job, an employer or a visa.
